Director of Development

UWWN seeks a Director of Development to shape, grow, and sustain organizational operations at an exciting time in our history. UWWN has succeeded in driving positive systems change. We seek a Director of Development who is excited to be a part of shifting the lives through the work of United Way throughout our service area.
The Director of Development is responsible for oversight, proactive planning, and successful execution of a comprehensive fundraising program, and to position UWWN for future success, growth, and sustainability. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director. The Director of Development plays a key leadership role in ensuring that UWWN fulfills its mission, ensures a values-based organizational culture, and accomplishes its financial and community service goals. The Director of Development will collaborate to design organizational resources to take UWWN to its next evolution of growth and expansion. Seeking a team oriented, positive and outgoing professional for a Full Time Director of Development at United Way! 

Hours include Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with occasional evenings or weekends for special events

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree with prior leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Grant writing experience
  • Works well with the public
  • Strong organizational skills and highly skilled in accuracy
  • Desire to work in a community oriented non-profit and be an integral part of the United Way of Western Nebraska team
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong understanding of planned giving instruments and strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior leadership development and/or philanthropy experience in a nonprofit, educational, or public service environment
  • Special events planning and execution
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts

The perfect applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm for helping others, manage their time effectively and communicate well in writing and conversation with a wide variety of people, demonstrate ability to be part of a team and community oriented, be proficient with computers and technology and be willing to do some limited travel.
