AmeriCorps Seniors Director

The AmeriCorps Seniors Director is responsible for the daily management of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program. The Project Director functions as a working project manager, actively involved with community organizations, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in RSVP, and volunteer stations. The Project Director serves as the representative of the sponsor in signing and approving official project documentation, including project reports and memoranda of understanding. The Project Director will abide by United Way of Western Nebraska’s established procedures for internal review and its standard policies and procedures. The Project Director serves full time, as negotiated with AmeriCorps. The Project Director may participate in activities to coordinate AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program resources with those of related local agencies, boards, or organizations. The Director will join a dynamic, collaborative team that is committed to living united, inside and out with a strong commitment to serving the community.

Hours include Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with occasional evenings or weekends for special events.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Status: Full-time; Nonexempt
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend hours as required to support events
  • Must have valid driver’s license and provide personal vehicle
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Position is based in the Scottsbluff United Way office

QUALIFICATIONS:

The perfect applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm for helping others, manage their time effectively and communicate well in writing and conversation with a wide variety of people, demonstrate ability to be part of a team and community oriented. Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate with others. Preferred experience working with senior citizens and organizing volunteers. Flexibility, management skills, computer literacy, and personal transportation are requirements. Experience managing federal grants is preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills necessary for preparing grants, written reports and giving oral presentations and trainings. Ability to attend after hours and weekend meetings/events on occasion is required. Regional travel is a requirement of this position.
