Addressing hunger in the community is a strategic priority for United Way of Western Nebraska. Through the United Food Network, we partner with local organizations and businesses to bring food directly to local families. This robust network includes the following United Way Community Impact programs:
Mobile Food Pantries
The Mobile Pantry Program delivers fresh and shelf-stable food directly to communities with a high need but limited food resources. These one-day, drive-through distributions are free to attend. Community packs include various shelf-stable items. Along with community packs, other items distributed can include assorted produce, bread, and dairy products. This program is in partnership with Food Bank for the Heartland.

Proxy forms may be returned to the United Way office (723 Flack Ave, Alliance or 1517 Broadway, Suite 106, Scottsbluff) in advance of the mobile food pantry or brought to the mobile distribution.
Food Distribution Partnership with Walmart
United Way of Western Nebraska partners with Walmart in Scottsbluff to receive food for local families. United Way distributes the food to area organizations actively serving local families.
Little Free Pantry
We partner with local organizations to host and support Little Free Pantry locations in our service area. Check out the current locations at: mini pantry movement. The Little Free Pantry is a zero‑barrier way for community members to give or take food and essential items. The Little Free Pantry operates on a “take what you need, give what you can” model. There are no forms, no eligibility requirements, and no questions asked—making it an accessible resource for anyone experiencing food insecurity or needing basic supplies. The public is encouraged to help keep the pantry stocked with shelf‑stable food and essential items. The UNL Extension Office recommends the following donation options:
Suggested Pantry Items
- Dry goods: Oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, dried beans, rice and other whole grains, pasta, spices, popcorn, coffee, tea, boxed dry soups, sugar, and flour
- Individually packaged snacks: Boxes of raisins, granola bars, protein bars, fruit snacks, and juices
- Food not requiring kitchen preparation: Bread, nuts and seeds, dried fruit, granola, nut butters, cereal, applesauce, and pudding packs
- Toiletries: Feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, facial tissue, soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and deodorant
